How School Shadowing Services Work
Parents play an integral part in the effectiveness of their child’s therapy. We provide training and resources to help you support your child’s development every step of the way.
School Shadowing Services
We are dedicated to ensuring that children with autism thrive in every aspect of their lives, including their academic environments. Our School Shadowing Program is designed to provide individualized support for children within their school settings, helping them navigate and succeed in mainstream classrooms.
What is School Shadowing?
School shadowing involves assigning a trained therapist, known as a "shadow," to accompany a child throughout their school day. The shadow provides support and guidance, helping the child manage their behavior, stay focused on tasks, and integrate with their peers. This individualized attention ensures that the child can participate more fully in their educational experience.
How Our School Shadowing Program Works
Assessment
After your child has received an Autism diagnosis, a comprehensive assessment of your child’s needs is conducted by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This helps us create a customized therapy plan tailored to your child’s unique goals and challenges.
Collaboration with School Staff
Our team works closely with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting the child.
Ongoing Support
The shadow accompanies the child to school, providing continuous support throughout the day. This includes assisting with transitions between activities, encouraging positive interactions with peers, and implementing behavior management strategies as needed.
Regular Monitoring and Adjustment
We regularly monitor the child’s progress and adjust the support plan as necessary. The BCBA oversees the implementation of the plan and provides additional training and guidance to the shadow as needed.
